    Japan produces some of the best green teas in the world and Sencha is highly valued as a luxury tea. It is used in Japanese tea ceremonies marking important family events. The primary producing area in Japan is the Shizuoka area, south west of Tokyo. The famous bullet train zooms through the tea growing area on its way to Osaka. The efficiency of Japan's tea production is amongst the highest in the world. Izu Matcha, a green tea powder classed as a well being tea because of the high antioxidant and polyphenol levels, is made from Sencha.     First Grade Jasmine Tea
    This jasmine green tea is the first grade jasmine tea, classed in China as Jasmine #1. The production of jasmine tea starts with a high quality green tea - tea produced between the middle of March and the middle of May. The next important ingredient is fine jasmine blossoms that bloom in May (these have the most intense aroma). The delicate flavour is then created using the traditional method, layering jasmine blossoms between the fine green tea. The scent of the jasmine permeates the tea giving a truly exceptional cup.

    Izu Matcha - the health benefits

    On a gram per gram basis, Izu Matcha contains approximately ten times the polyphenols of regular teas. Two cups of brewed matcha contains seven times the antioxidants of orange juice, twenty times that of apple juice, and nearly 20g of calcium.
