Taste

This loose leaf Sri Lankan tea has a pungent, astringent flavour that is almost dry to taste. The Aislaby FP Estate tea gives a bright cup with golden yellow highlights.

Facts

Aislaby is one of the original tea estates established in Sri Lanka in the 1880s. Because of the elevation of the Estate (4,500 feet) and its sheltered position in the Malwatte Valley (the heart of the Uva tea district) the Aislaby Estate is renowned for producing high quality teas, sought after by discerning tea lovers around the world.

Teas that come from high grown estates provide superior flavour and quality because the cooler temperatures, better soil conditions and higher levels of sunshine cause the bushes to grow more slowly, concentrating the goodness and flavour in the new shoots.

The Uva district of Sri Lanka peaks in quality during the Southwest monsoons from July to September. Uva sits in the rain shadow on the east side of the island. It gets very little rain but lots of sunshine; essential natural ingredients for creating this great quality Sri Lankan tea.
