Black & Oolong Tea

Black tea is the strongest flavoured and most oxidised of all tea types. It also accounts for over 90% of all tea sold in the West. All our Oolong and black teas at York Coffee Emporium use only premium top range leaves.

Our loose leaf black tea range includes Single Estate delights from Assam, Darjeeling , Kenya and Sri Lanka (Ceylon) alongside traditional favourites including York Emporium Breakfast, Earl Grey and our ever popular Buckingham Palace - a delightful afternoon tea used by the Queen at her garden parties. For our customers wanting something a little different we have a wonderful Chinese Lapsang Souchong ‘Madame Butterfly’, giving a real journey of smoky deep flavours.

Oolong tea is different from black and green tea. It is not common and can only be grown in specific conditions and climates. It is not as fully oxidised as black tea, and contains about half the caffeine of a cup of black tea. Oolong tea has a very broad taste range from honey sweet to woody.
