Grown in the Sidamo Province this is one of the best fully washed Ethiopian coffees. A complex coffee; on the filter, hint of lemon and fruits, in the cafetiere, a more earthy, smokiness.

Like most African coffees, Ethiopia Sidamo is a small, dense green/greyish bean, yet is valued for its deep, spice and wine or chocolate-like taste and floral aroma. The most distinctive flavour notes found in all Sidamo coffees are lemon and citrus, with bright crisp acidity.

Ethiopia is thought to be the birthplace of coffee with wild growing coffea arabica being found in the forests of the Kaffa region. Ethiopia is the world's 7th largest producer of coffee, and Africa's top producer. Half of the coffee is consumed by Ethiopians, and the country leads the continent in domestic consumption. The method of producing coffee in Ethiopia has not changed much since the 10th century, with nearly all work, cultivating and drying, still done by hand.

Not for me, a little too fruity
By
I should have taken more note of the description YCE gave this coffee - because it is spot on.

It's a fruity, almost citrus-like, blend that I can't quite get on with. I've managed to get through a 500g bag in trying to do so, but there's something about it that just doesn't sit well with my coffee preferences.

If you like something very different then you'll probably love it, but be prepared for a taste that you'll find very unique indeed.

I've still given it 4 stars on the basis the description is very true and I think my thoughts on the coffee are more down to personal preferences than anything else.

fruity and bitter not to everyone's taste I like it and taste the fruit but my partner dislikes it and tastes no fruit at all but if you can taste it it can be a lovely coffee
