Taste

This coffee is sweet in aromatics with a fruity start reminiscent of plums and cherry, petering out to a milk chocolate finish. Its refreshing taste makes it a particularly good morning coffee as well as being a great all-rounder.

Facts

This fully-washed Guatemalan is from the north highlands, home to exceptional coffees with distinct acidity and fruited flavours. Thanks to the dry, hot winds that blow into the mountains from Mexico’s Tehuantepec plain, the region is protected from frost, allowing cultivation from 1350 feet above sea level.

Guatemala is one of the worlds top coffee origins and the eighth largest producer. This relatively small country boasts the most climatically diverse regions in the world. The soil, rainfall, humidity, altitude, and temperature are varied enough to produce seven distinct types of Guatemala Arabica coffee which are well-known and highly rated.

Flavour Profiles Chocolate, Plum & Berries, Sweet
Roast Profile This is a delicate bean to roast. It is taken just to 'first crack' - light medium/medium then bought out of the heat. Any more and the fruity, sweet cocoa flavours disappear to carbony bitterness. However when roasted correctly this complex single origin is an absolute delight!
Cupping Notes 1. Acidity - Mild fruity plum/cherry acidity that develops slowly on the palate. 2. Sweetness - Medium to low sweetness. 3. Body - Good body that cradles the mouth in a moreish way. 4. Balance - great balance of flavours, moves nicely from sweet, to mild acidity to dark cocoa and pleasant aftertaste. 5. Character - Deep, intense and complex. As an espresso plum & cherry with dark cocoa notes and a licorice aftertaste that lingers nicely. In the cafetiere a little lighter and milder with milk chocolate notes.
Origin Notes Grown in the northern highlands of Guatemala, this coffee has a deep fruity and chocolate cup. Thanks to the dry, hot winds that blow into the mountains from Mexico’s Tehuantepec plain, the region is protected from frost, allowing cultivation of 1350 feet above sea level.

The cup I've been waiting for
By
If you're into 'chocolatey notes' etc, fine, but in everyday language this is a bloody lovely cup of coffee. I grind it, (greedy, I use 1 and a bit scoops), into Aeropress, leave it briefly, depress plunger and wow, it is a coffee drinker's dream (or my dream).

I bought this to try on the basis of its description. And here I am buying more. It's an everyday coffee, not too strong with nice flavours. If you like a simple hot chocolate, you'll probably like this coffee.
