Delicious Burundi coffee that is suitable for any time of the day!

Flavour Profile

Grapefruit - Brown Sugar - Molasses

Burundi isn't new to coffee production. The Belgians originally planted coffee here in the 1960s and the practise in this landlocked country has continued to this day. The country invests a great deal in its coffee production and with World Bank funding it has been able to build around 140 washing stations. As a result of continuing privatisation, the Burundi people themselves are getting a piece of the industry with 800,000 families owning their own lots.

Kibenga coffees are from the Kayanze Province, Buyenzi region made up of 105 coffee producers. The average farm size per producer is 400 coffee trees and the average quantity of coffee produced is 1,600kg per producer. The Kibenga farms are part of the natural reserve forest with high mountains in Burundi and filled with young coffee plantations.

Impressive coffee
A nice coffee; at the stronger end of the scale. Slight acidity though nothing too offensive. A lingering fruits of the forest type vibe in the mouth.

Bit dark for me
I bought this for a visit from my mum and sister who both love coffee but see Lavazza as their benchmark for what coffee should be like. I generally go for a lighter/ medium roast. I rated the coffee as 4 stars as though the coffee was too darkly roasted for me it was still good and it'd feel unfair to mark it down because of my taste. My mum loved it so I feel its hit the mark for her!
