Vietnam Arabica tasting notes

Vietnam is the second largest coffee producer in the world although most of this is Robusta for the instant coffee and blending markets. So its Arabica is little known.

I roasted two batches one to a dark heavy full roast, the other to a medium-dark roast:
The heavy full roast packs a real punch, smokey, good body, slightly bitter and acidic with some dryness, not for the faint hearted but actually very good and with milk it mellows to becomes an after dinner option.
The medium-dark roast surprised me, sweet, acidic, even good body then delivering spice and a little dryness, an extremely pleasant cup with great potential to be the base to create an exciting indo-asian blend - watch this space....
