Java Blawan tasting notes

Last week I roasted and cupped a fantastic Java Blawan. For those lovers of strong characterful coffee, this is the one for you!

It's from Indonesia, is wet processed and has a fragrance (dry) of earthy peat and fungi. The aroma (wet) is sweet, deep and appetising, it's reminiscent of mushroom porridge (but don't let that put you off).

Roasted medium dark it has a syrupy, chocolate flavour laced with peat (earthy but not dirty, a bit like Islay whisky), it is not too bitter and has a lovely after-taste, a great after dinner coffee.

Roasted to medium it is lighter and more smooth but can get washed out if milk is added.

For a delicious after dinner coffee that can punch through milk to produce a Moorish cup, go for a medium dark roast and enjoy!

Shop for the Java Blawan Estate coffee at York Coffee Emporium.
